Semana Santa in Barra de Navidad - Lent Meals - Capirotada y Tortitas de camaron

Capirotada is a Mexican bread pudding that is only prepared during "cuaresma" on Ash Wednesday, every Friday, and holy Saturday. It is usually eaten as a dessert at lunch time.

In Barra de Navidad one of the places where you can find it is at Tortas "Fer" in the corner of Mar Mediterráneo and Nueva España in the "barrio"; it is very good; I think you can also find it in “cocinas económicas” and some restaurants.
Tortitas de camarón con nopales en chile de teñir - This is another meal that is only prepared during lent, try it if you have chance because is very good. These are shrimp and egg cakes served with sliced nopales in a red chile sauce. You can also find this meal in "cocinas económicas" in the "barrio" and downtown Barra.
